Engaging the African Innovation Ecosystem

In October 2020, Djembe launched a special Insights Report in partnership with AfriLabs, the largest pan-African network of technology and innovation centers to assess the impact of COVID-19 on the continent’s young innovators and entrepreneurs. The Report provided perspectives from industry experts as to how African decisionmakers from both the public and private sectors can accelerate support across the full innovation spectrum including education, inclusivity, investment, policy and research and development.

The Insights Report was launched during a panel discussion at the 5th AfriLabs Annual Gathering 2020,.  The Report combined survey findings of over 1,000 pan-African innovators, entrepreneurs, and startups with the unique perspectives of some of the continent’s most experienced and informed social and economic experts and commentators including Afreximbank, African Union Commission, African Development Bank, Honoris United Universities, Mastercard Foundation, Mozilla, SMART Africa and UN Women, amongst others
