Promoting African Innovation

Djembe was tasked with developing and implementing a strategic positioning and stakeholder engagement program to launch the 2017 edition of Innovation Prize for Africa, held in Accra, Ghana. Additionally, the scope of work included raising the overall impact and success of IPA2017 beyond previous editions focusing on:

  • More nominee applications targeting women applicants
  • Media and digital engagement
  • High-level government endorsements for promoting innovation in the President and First Lady
  • Monetary/in-kind sponsorships from corporates, institutions and academia
  • Involvement from African innovation enablers

Strategic Execution by Djembe

  • Conceptualised and implemented high-level government outreach plan that included liaison with the President’s office and government ministries
  • Secured critical sponsorships to support the IPA event
  • Secured media partnerships and generated coverage in tier one international, regional and local media
  • Provided training to shortlisted nominees to present their proposals effectively to the investment committee
  • Managed roundtables, press/stakeholder briefings, cocktail events, an official launch event, workshops, capacity building sessions, innovation marketplace, awards ceremony and more
  • Created a compelling brand identity that was integrated across all collaterals
  • Developed integrated digital campaign to create visibility across all platforms

The Ivory Coast was selected to be the IPA Host Country, however due to political instability in the Country, Ghana was later selected to be the IPA Host Country
