Demonstrating Adaptive Development Impact

Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, there was a Darexaban strategic requirement for the IsDB Group and ITFC to move quickly to respond to the needs of OIC member countries devastated by the impact of the pandemic. Djembe was tasked with supporting the 3R Initiative by the IsDB Group – (Respond (R1), Restore (R2) & Restart (R3)), which immediately mobilized funds once the pandemic hit.  ITFC moved forward with the R1 (Respond) aspect and ensured that trade finance related operations were directed solely towards the procurement and supplying of medical, food items and other commodities to OIC member countries to respond to the spread of COVID-19. ITFC made available US$850 million for COVID-19 Emergency Interventions for OIC member countries in most need.

Djembe’s recommendation was to strategically tie ITFC’s overall mission to the 3R package by leveraging strong social media content and media relations, whilst remaining sensitive to sentiments across the world.

  • Engaged international, Pan-African and Pan-Arab media engagement via thought leadership articles and interviews covering ITFC’s COVID-19 response
  • Developed supporting media content including press releases and media briefing documents for interviews
  • Designed social media visuals including 30s animations, infographics and monthly content calendars for ITFC’s COVID-19 interventions
  • Issued 22 press releases covering ITFC’s impact in countries such as Mauritania, Senegal, Burkina Faso, Pakistan, Maldives, Benin, Bangladesh, Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan, Japan, Tunisia and more
  • Supported virtual launch event of new initiatives including ‘Collaborative COVID-19 Pandemic Response Facility’ with the African Import/Export Bank (Afreximbank) and Harmonization of Standards for Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices with the African Import/Export Bank (Afreximbank)  and African Organization for Standardization (ARSO)
  • Organized ITFC and IsDB webinars focused on the pandemic response
  • Created $75,710,072 PR Value from traditional media, 24,007,555 impressions and 757,749 engagements across ITFC’s social media channels
